I decided to break it open. I needed to create a mask that would hold everything. I'd decided to make masks that were both lightweight and durable, with a built-in zipper to pull them down.

I decided to start with my most famous mask, which looks more reminiscent of "Greta" than "Coco."

I was also trying to get rid of the excess plastic so I could be one of the more affordable brands. The design reminded me of the "Star Wars" mask, which in one sense resembles an actual, "Star Trek: The Original Series"-inspired costume and is easy to pull up and pull down. I liked the simplicity of the design so much that I designed a few masks.

To make the best of what I had, I made a lot of stuff that I would make from just acrylic and polyhedra, which I thought would work better for the day. I used some of the stuff I had on hand, like the mask to give a layer of paint over my hair. It worked out well and I was pleasantly surprised to find I'd never actually heard of how a painting can come in a sheet—a fairly recent trend for many acrylic masks, where the same layers just dry up quickly if you don't apply the right layer of paint.
