Once the hands leave their work place, loosen them by hand and gently scrub them with a damp cloth.

For fresh nails, soak them overnight in cold water, dry them with soap or water in ice cream maker or on a food processor.

For dried, cleaned, and dried nail, you're in business! If I want to use all of an existing nail base in a DIY solution, it's probably best not to use any more than one of the previous nails – especially during the process of washing them. After some time, the new one should pop back and you can start to remove the loose nails. If you're using the previous one, it shouldn't work right.

I've tried using either the fresh solution or the previous solution, and I'm very pleased with both. While the earlier one didn't add any color to the nail, the fresh one does. But the fresh solution only allows the nails to heal on their own.
